Adding SW QuikLeg

K0044

Introduction

This article provides an example of how to add a new non-miscellaneous item to the master files.

Adding a Socket Weld QuikLeg to the Master Files

Select Edit, Master Files, SW/TH Tees.
Click Show Unused Rows to show the following:

Let us decide to put the SW QuikLeg on row E, which is just before the SW Tee. If you are doing drawings for someone else, be sure to coordinate this change with them, as changes to the master files are reflected in drawings that use them. This includes drawings already completed.

In row E, enter the Material Type as F (for Forged), and press Enter.

Select Utilities, Add Description and enter SW QuikLeg.

Move the focus to row E of the In Use? column and press the spacebar. This makes an X appear.

Double click on the Fttg Image column of row E and select image model117, same as for SW Tees. Or type 117 and press Enter.

Double click on the End Image column of row E and select image model1693, same as for SW Tees. Or type 1693 and press Enter.

Enter Dimensions for 3000# SW QuikLeg

To Enter dimensions for 3000# SW QuikLeg, put the focus on row E of the column headed 3-3000#.  Then select Utilities, Edit Dimensions for 3000# SW QuikLeg.(or press F3).

The dimensions for 3000# SW QuikLeg will be stored in a file calledTSE3.AC3 where TS stands for SW/TH Tees, E refers to row E, and 3 stands for 3000#.

The program will try to display file TSE3.AC3  so that you can review and edit it if necessary. If TSE3.AC3 is not present, it will offer to create a file of that name by copying an existing dimension file.

The dimensions for SW QuikLeg are almost the same as for SW Tee, so choose to copy the dimensions for 3000# SW Tee as shown below.

Review the dimensions and edit and save them where necessary.  Click OK.

Back in TSMaster, if there is no X in the 3000# column of row E, press the spacebar to add one.

Similarly, enter dimensions for  6000# SW QuikLeg. When finished, row E should be as highlighted below.

Click Save & Close, then Close the Master Files.

Add SW QuikLeg to the Spec

We now have to make the new fitting available for drawing. Select Edit, Job/Spec Setup, and Edit the appropriate spec. Select Pipe and Fitting Choices, Pipe/Elbows/Tees. Check the box next to SW QuikLeg. Save and Close.

You can now draw the QuikLeg in the same way as a SW Tee. While it will also look exactly like a SW Tee, it should be clear from the context which way the QuikLeg should be oriented.

If necessary, add a note or use the Item Appearance dialog to change the image on the QuikLeg end as shown.

Dependency on Master Files

If you are sending drawing files (.apf or .api files) involving the newly-added fitting to another SpoolFab user, they will need to use a Data folder that also contains the new fitting in order for the new fitting to display. You don’t need to consider this if you are just sending the drawings as PDF files.

Before adding other fittings to the Master Files, contact support@spoolfab.com to find out whether the fitting is already supported in some other way.
